As many street youth suffer from substance abuse and psychological disorders as a result of
the past and present abuses they endure, we are planning to found an alternative
rehabilitation center to facilitate the treatment and development of children and youth for
whom no other services are available. The project will be located in the outskirts of
Guayaquil, far away from the temptations of the city. In addition to a rehabilitation
program based on Narcotics Anonymous, we will offer primary education, wilderness
education and therapy, health care, sexual and reproductive health workshops, vocational
training in shrimp and fish farming, and transitional support services. The street youth
themselves presented the idea and participated in every aspect of planning and developing
the project to ensure that it will provide an appropriate, accessible, appealing and
sustainable solution to the cycle of substance abuse and street youth.

To provide these direly needed services, we have established a collaboration local NGOs:

Concepto Azul: Applying biotechnology to sustainable social development projects
Voces del Silencio: Protecting and promoting the rights of children and youth
CONSEP: Preventing and treating the abuse and trafficking of illicit substances

We are currently in the process of fundraising to cover the initial development costs.
